Nicknamed the "Pie Tin" because unlike many other gently transitioning tracks, St. Louis's had abrupt as well as dangerous transitions giving it the appearance of a pie tin.

Just got back from NY and really glad I got to hang out with my good friend Big Steve Pedone. Steve and his amazing wife Tiffany are about to have their first child in the next couple weeks so I wanted to see them before things got way too hectic for them to have visitors. Went on a ride with some buddies last night. I think at one point we had 12 or so in the pack so every bar we pulled up to sounded like a god damn storm was rollin in. But anyways, we had a fucking blast, especially at the Queen of Hearts. Which is a "strip club" in Fenton where they don't get nude and they dance to the music playing on the juke box. And let me tell ya, getting a girl to dance to Eric Clapton "tears in heaven" and having a bunch of dirty punk rock bikers sing along and clap is probably the funniest fucking thing you could ever witness.

Well its been a little while...

The last month or so has become some of the most complicated and dark times in my life. A lot of questioning, a lot of no sleep, A LOT of drinking. BUT... there has been a bright side to all of the madness... there has been a lot of traveling (and traveling to come), chopper riding, tattooing, painting, and hanging out with friends.

On the 7th of Sept I'll be flying out to New York City (As long as it doesn't blow away...) to visit friends and to sell paintings and prints. I'll return on the 13th and will be back on the road by the 19th. I'll be traveling up north with good pals Andy Northup and Josh Rowan to take photos, sight see, and (again) sell paintings, prints, flash, and I'm sure Andy will have tat zappers too. But probably the most important aspect of the upcoming trip... its going to be a great get away and good times with my pals and the open road. Not sure exactly where we are going (but when do I ever do?) but I'm pretty sure we're gonna hit up Canada and Niagra Falls, which i'm very excited about. I'll probably know more info in the next couple weeks and I'll post our route so if youre at a tat shop or know of a tat shop that would like to take a look at our goodies just email me (onelifeandy@gmail.com).

Monday morning I packed up a change of clothes (as in an extra sleeveless shirt and a "just in case" flannel), a series of prints, five or so paintings, and my trusty mexican blanket and headed east on my scoot. After spewing oil everywhere from my oil tank, my first stop was Daddyo's Tattoo in Centralia, IL. I Mainly hung out with good friends Andy N. and Chris Q but I also met a few new people and actually got to know some of the others at the shop as well. Everyone was very welcoming and friendly... good peoples.

Also while I was there I got to make a couple of tat zappers under the supervision and guidance of Chris who is the man behind Bareknuckle Irons. So after milling, welding, grinding, sanding, polishing, winding, soldering, tapping, gluing, wrapping, and can't forget about antiquing... I had built my first tattoo machines! Super cool feeling, and super lucky having a good person like Chris as a friend!

After Andy finished up his last tat appointment on Tuesday we said our goodbyes and headed about 20 minutes south to visit Rod and Alisha at Stripped Down Cycles in Dubois, IL. Our goal was to put some longer forks onto Andy's sportster but snail mail let us down, leaving us no other option then to put a taller sissy bar on his bike... oh and to get drunk! So after Rod finished the sissy bar and a long night of drinking at the shop we headed over to Rod and Alisha's house where we were fed like kings! Burgers, fried mushrooms, hot dogs, and a mix of vegetables... sooooo good! After dinner I was hit with a food coma, but had just enough time to lay my mexican blanket down in front of the AC unit and fall asleep with my head nestled on my backpack, mainly on the pocket filled with tools. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....

So today I woke up feeling amazing.............. packed up my stuff and headed over to the shop to watch Rod's two week build begin its journey to its new lucky owner in Japan. After all of that excitement it was time for me to head back west towards "the big city". Overall, these last couple days have been so amazing and very therapeutic. Big thanks to Andy for inviting me along, Chris for teaching me about machines and for being a great friend, and to Rod and Alisha for showing me a good time and for giving me a belly full of food! Hopefully I'll be back out that way sooner than later!

The time has come for me to part ways with Iron Age Tattoo. It was a hard decision and I'm going to truly miss everyone there... but I feel like its for the best. For now I'm going to be cutting back bills and doing a lot of traveling with the little money I have saved up and try to begin a new chapter of my life. 9 states, 1,600 miles, and a bunch of new friends later I'm back from an amazing trip. Andy Northup and myself (better known as "The Andys") went out east stopping at random tattoo shops selling flash, machines, prints, and paintings. We sold a shit load of stuff and came back with a bunch of good stories. Craziest day of the year, but always a lot of fun. We ended up tattooing til about 11:30 and tallied up around 180 friday the 13th tattoos. First off, big thanks to Matt for opening up the museum for us. Matt and his father (along with just a couple of staff members) run the Wheels Thru Time Museum putting their heart and soul into it everyday. We are truly grateful for your guys' dedication!

It was an amazing time seeing so much history in one building. Everything from Ness's "Purple Haze", to the shaft driven bikes, to the hill-climbers, to the track bikes... Amazing! This is definitely something any motorcycle enthusiast needs to check out.

On May 1st, the Andys will be back out on the road. Andy Northup and myself will be traveling from Saint Louis to the Tattoo Archive in North Carolina stopping anywhere and everywhere in between. Hit the road early friday morning after a long night of making prints, cranking out paintings, and doing laundry. Sold a bunch of prints and paintings, got to check out The Mercy Seat and a few of the Freaks in KC, hang out with my buds over at Iron Tiger, but the highlight of the trip had to be meeting Ted and his wife Jan. Ted has been tattooing for over 45 years and had some great stories to tell. Hopefully I get to visit him again sometime soon!
